Read Acts 3:1-10

It’s easy for us to get fixated on things that we think we need, but, sometimes, what we think we need and what we really need are entirely different things sometimes.

In this passage, there is a paralyzed man that things he needs money. He sat outside of the temple gate every single day to panhandle for a little money. I’m sure some days he made decent money and other days he didn’t, but, no matter the outcome, he always ended up in the same place, doing the same thing, every day.

That was until he met Peter and John.

Peter told the man that he didn’t have any money, but he could help him in another way. Peter reached down, helped the man up, and healed him. A man that had been paralyzed from birth, stuck doing the same thing every day, was suddenly healed.

Too often, we get so focused on things that we think we need that we completely miss what God says we really need. Don’t become so fixated on the other stuff in life that you end up doing the same old things everyday and miss out on what God wants to do with your life.

Every fairy tale you read as a kid is pretty much the same. All hell breaks loose, but, by the end, the dragon is slain, the evil stepmother is out of the picture, the problem is solved. The hero saves the day, the bad guy lives the rest of his days in misery, and everyone lives Happily Ever After. But, that’s not how real life works. We don’t get just a Happily Ever After. In this series we ask the question, What happens after Happily ever after?
